Flux Sunday, 7/14/13

(What is Flux Sunday?)

I write this post not in July of 2013 as I should have done, but in december of the self-same year, in an attempt to catch up on all the missing Flux Sunday reports that were sacrificed to my busy, busy year. However, some stick in the mind better than others, so while I cannot guarantee that this report is perfect, it is close to what actually happened that long ago Sunday.

Playwrights: Aja Houston (Acirfa), Johnna Adams (Lingua Ignota), Larry Kunofsky (Van Gogh Among the Hipsters), Jason Tseng (Apotheosis), Adam Szymkowicz (Sarah) and August Schulenburg (Stepping).

Directors: Heather Cohn, Marielle Duke, Kia Rogers

Actors:  Matt Trumbull, Kia Rogers, Carissa Cordes, John Greenleaf, Ridley Parson, C.L. Weatherstone, Ryan Shams, Shaun B. Fauntleroy, Zack Calhoon, Patrick Melville, Stephanie Willing, Alexis Thomason, Isaiah Tanenbaum, Emily Hartford, Sarah Amandes, Jane Taylor, Chester Poon and Heather Lee Rogers.

Highlights:

  • Chester and Ryan as drag queens in the actual Judson bathroom in Jason Tseng’s glorious Flux Sunday debut with Apotheosis
  • Stephanie Willing just killing it with her total hipster disinterest in Larry’s Van Gogh Among The Hipsters #winning
  • The chase of Adam’s site-specific Sarah (which also, oddly, featured a scene in a bathroom)–little did we know then that this play would be such a fantastic part of our Retreat in August!
If you were there, can you fill in the blanks with where my memory doesn’t serve?
