ZIN GALACTIC Spotlight: Justin Woo

We’re thrilled to continue spotlighting the creative team of Zin Galactic and the Saloon at the Edge of the Universe by Adam Szymkowicz directed by Heather Cohn! Justin Woo plays BEEPBOOP, a robot with a lot to say yet a limited vocabulary with which to say it. Justin, a Flux Creative Partner, is also one of the composers of the songs for Zin Galactic, and has recently collaborated on The Hardest Goodbye, Portal Project, and The Ether. You pull up a stool at the Saloon at the Edge of the Universe. What’s your drink order?

Non alcoholic beer, probably an IPA. Or a fancy mocktail. I’d imagine that an antifascist saloon would have good options.

Oh god, how can you narrow it down to just one?! Bruce Springsteen’s new The Streets of Minneapolis is a great one.

If you were a robot capable of making only a single sound, what would that sound be?

I mean, OBVIOUSLY “beep boop!”

What book would you recommend if you were a resistance librarian?

Rebecca Solnit’s A Paradise Built In Hell. It discredits the Hobbesian idea that authority and the threat of state violence are what make people kind, generous, and civilized.

He represented Jersey City at the National Poetry Slam in 2011 and 2012. He believes the crafty table should always be stocked and you should never wait for someone to give you a job.
