ZIN GALACTIC Spotlight: Miranda Holliday
We’re thrilled to continue spotlighting the creative team of Zin Galactic and the Saloon at the Edge of the Universe by Adam Szymkowicz directed by Heather Cohn! Miranda Holliday plays LEXILI, who will surely win TUWEL’s fatherly approval and be declared his heir. Miranda’s a Flux Creative Partner whose recent Flux credits include readings of Portal Project, The Elephant Play, God Splat, and Methods in Madness. The questions are inspired by Adam’s joyful play—make sure to RSVP for the in-NYC 2/16 reading at 7:00pm ET!

You pull up a stool at the Saloon at the Edge of the Universe. What’s your drink order?
A Prairie Oyster. In reality it sounds disgusting but it’s what Cowboy Bebop drinks, and that’s the kind of space cowboy I wanna be!
Share a song that puts you in a fascism-fighting mood.
“Blood of an American” by Abu Talib. This song was released in 2018 though it feels like it’s from decades ago. It’s reminds me of the gentle but wise way my ancestors spoke about the world around them. The ancestors who couldn’t stand up themselves but knew to collect bits of knowledge and store power to be harnessed by a descendent in the future. I fight fascism by remembering, and they did too.
If you were a robot capable of making only a single sound, what would that sound be?

What book would you recommend if you were a resistance librarian?
FEARLESS by Tim Lott. It’s a political dystopian novel about a heroic girl who is imprisoned in a harsh institution with 999 other girls. She prepared to risk everything in the pursuit of justice. It’s seriously amazing and I’ve read it probably once a year since I first read it in 2007.
