Flux Sunday, 9/9

Post and pathetic iPhone photo by August Schulenburg.

(What is Flux Sunday?)

We’re back! After a three week hiatus spent at the Flux Retreat at Little Pond, Flux Sundays roared back into action. Usually, after a break it takes several weeks to get back up to speed, but I was pleased to see that only a little momentum, if any, was lost.

Playwrights: Johnna Adams (Play Moms), Nat Cassidy (Space Station), Lauren Ferebee (Somewhere Safer), August Schulenburg (Upgrade)

Directors: Isaiah Tanenbaum, Anthony Wills Jr

Actors: Matthew Trumbull, Jennifer Somers Kipley, Neimah Djourabchi, Alyssa Simon, Jacob Williams, Emily Hartford, Ken Glickfeld, Tanesha M. Ford, Jane Taylor

Highlights:

-Director Anthony’s lovely use of space for Lauren’s Somewhere Safer – the architecture of the play stood out in clear and compelling relief.
-The lazzi of the cigarette, as performed by Alyssa and Matthew Trumbull – those that were there will speak of this moment of fumbling genius until the last trumpet calls.
-Neimah’s smoldering-silly turns as the space captain in Nat’s space station play
-Jane delivering the unsettling-funny new that her son will be the next Dalai Lama

A few more pathetic iPhotos to wet your memory’s whistle, and the comments section lays out before you, in case you wish that whistle to play a remembering tune…

The internet must also record that Isaiah created one of the greatest sets in white-board/box-stacking history.
