David Ian Lee’s The Dog Show this Sunday at The Abingdon Theatre–first workshopped at Flux Sunday!
One of the joys of working with a company like Flux is being a part of the strange and wonderful journeys that the artists and their art takes. I have been blessed to know David Ian Lee this past year not only as a great actor, but also as a gifted playwright, as evidenced by his soon-to-be-published play Sleeper. So I was especially thrilled when he came into Flux Sunday some months ago with the first pages of his new play, The Dog Show. For some reason, I was asked to read the role of the arrogant, Francophone actress, Candice (really have no idea how that happened–c’est un mystère!), and the journey has taken me from Flux, to the Actors’ Theatre of Louisville and now, The Abingdon Theatre.
